Online Website Registration System
The Online Website Registration System (OWRS) is a joint initiative of the Department of Treasure and Finance’s ServiceNet and the Public Sector Commission. The OWRS is a component of the Website Governance Framework, which provides WA Government agencies with a coordinated approach to managing websites.
The OWRS is a tool for registering active public sector websites. The information obtained through the registration process provides the WA Government the ability to map the scope of its online presence, thus allowing government to continually improve its online service delivery.
As an example, the wa.gov.au online government entry point provides a whole-of-government web search that uses a list of websites to define its scope. The OWRS will enable that list to be accurate at all times, ensuring that the search encompasses all available WA Government online information.
In addition to capturing Website Profile information, the OWRS also allows for the capture of website cost information for each agency. Capturing website cost information through the OWRS provides a more streamlined and efficient process for the collection and analysis of website information.
OWRS Features
- Provides a list of all WA Government websites, as well as a description of each website, its current status, and profile information that provides a detailed picture of the WA Government’s online offering and a means of measuring the effectiveness of the Website Governance Framework.
- Allocation of an identification number to all WA Government websites.
- Allows agencies to manage their list of websites and cost throughout the lifespan of the website from development to decommission.
- Email reminders provided to agencies at relevant points along the life cycle of the website (domain re-registration, website reporting requirements, etc).
Accessing the System
All agencies can nominate a website point-of-contact that will be given a login name and password to access the system. If you already have a login and password, you can login to the system via the 'Agency Login' link in the above menu. Agency website point-of-contacts may assign access to colleagues within their organisation once logged into the system. If you have been identified as your agency's website point-of-contact, but have not yet received a login, please contact ServiceNet at websites@servicenet.wa.gov.au.
